Our next meeting will be Tuesday, August 5th at Wayman's Church located at 1307 Washington Blvd.  We start at 7:00 pm.  We will be discussing the push for a pool in C. P. and the concert on August 13th 6:30 -8:00 pm in C.P. near Bayard St..   Hope to see you there!  Please note there will be no meeting in September

Next FoCP meeting

There will be no meeting in September.  The next meeting will be October 1. 2013 at Waymam's Church, 1307 Washington Blvd.  We start at 7:00 pm.  Come learn what's going on in Carroll Park!  Like the new Children's Nature Garden!  Grand opening Celebration Friday, October 4th 1-3 and 3-5 pm.  Rain date Oct. 18th.  Magic Show, music and more......

Children's Nature Garden

FoCP has received grant funds from Parks & People and MECU to install and celebrate the Children;s Nature Garden in the playground area of C.P.  We are excited to see so many children playing on the new natural logs and boulders that have been placed there.  Even though the project is not finished, you can see that the kids love it!

Notes from July 3, 2012 Meeting

This was a very short meeting, as there wasn't much on the agenda.

Friends of Carroll Park is looking at applying for Park's and People's Fall 2012 Grant.  The letter of intent has been submitted, artists will be contacted as a next step.  We're hoping to get funds for sculpture that can double as play equipment.

Blue Star Museum - Special Admission Offer


Mount Clare will be part of the Blue Star Museum network, a program offering free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2010. Blue Star Museums is a partnership among Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts, and more than 700 museums across America. The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention Common Access Card (CAC), a DD Form 1173, or a DD Form 1173-1, which includes active duty military and five immediate family members, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserve. Held at the Mount Clare Stable, visitors will get a chance to participate in colonial activities such as drafting a letter with a quill pen and create colonial crafts, such as a doll, lantern or stitchery. $10 fee includes admission to the museum same day. African American Walking Tour

Learn about the history of African Americans at Mount Clare. This 45 minute tour will explore African Americans contribution to the history of Mount Clare starting with the enslaved workers and finishing with the integration of Baltimore’s golf courses in the 20th century. $5 per person. After the walking tour take a tour of the mansion for $3 more. To make reservations call 410-837-3262, ext. 105. Tour starts at the museum entrance.

Who’s Beneath the Winding Sheet?

Exhibit opening of, Who’s Beneath the Winding Sheet?Funerary Customs of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Experience the culture of death 18th century style as Mount Clare is transformed into a period funeral setting. Exhibit is open September 22 through October 28. Included with the price of admission.
